Asheville Hockey Board Members

Anthony Cerrato - President

Anthony became involved with the league 12 years ago when his son, Gabe, joined the adult division. Having played hockey prior to relocating to Western North Carolina, Anthony was eager to join the Asheville Hockey League himself. Over the years, he has been a dedicated supporter, providing sponsorships for both youth and adult teams. Through his businesses in Asheville, Anthony currently sponsors three youth teams and three adult teams. Additionally, he has served multiple terms on the board since 2016. Anthony has two twin girls that will soon be joining the youth league. Anthony’s term is concluding and will be seeking re-election.

Dan Dean - Vice President

Dan has been involved with the Asheville Hockey League for nine years. With a background in competitive hockey, as well as experience with a youth & adult focused non-profit organization, he brings a unique perspective to his role. Dan leverages his experience to support the league through fundraising efforts, including the annual golf outing, which generates funds to provide youth gear, sponsor players, and offer free play opportunities for first-time participants. In 2020, Dan assumed the role of Adult Commissioner and has also contributed as an assistant youth coach in 2018. Dan has had a big part in raising funds for rebuilding the rink and working with other roller communities to gather youth gear for our league.

Jay Curwen - Treasurer

Jay has been actively involved with the league since 2016, when his son Gibby joined the youth program. Shortly thereafter, Jay was recruited to coach youth teams, a role he held for several years until his son transitioned to the adult league. Jay has also served as Co-Youth Commissioner and has been a member of the board, holding multiple terms since 2018. Throughout the league's rebuilding process, Jay has been a key advocate, engaging with the Carolina Hurricanes, the NHL, and raising national awareness about our community through media appearances.

Bart Hodgins - Secretary

Bart has been an integral part of the Asheville Hockey community since 2016, when his son joined the youth league. Demonstrating a strong commitment to the sport, Bart quickly transitioned into coaching, guiding players across multiple youth divisions as his son advanced through the ranks. After three years of coaching, he expanded his involvement by joining the adult league, where he soon assumed the role of captain. In this leadership position, Bart has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership both on and off the rink. Additionally, he has contributed to the governance of the organization, serving on the board for multiple terms and helping shape the future of Asheville Hockey.

Jim Brunner - Board Member

Jim was recently elected to the board in 2024. Jim’s son began playing in the youth league in the Spring of 2022. Following his son’s first season, Jim took on the role of coaching in the league. Not only does Jim have one child participating in the youth league, but two—his daughter also began playing in the same season that Jim started coaching. 


Max Olszack - Board Member

Max became a member of the Asheville Hockey League in 2017 and quickly took on a leadership role as captain of one of the adult teams. He was an invaluable contributor to the league, frequently assisting with scorekeeping for both the adult and youth divisions whenever needed. Two years ago, Max expanded his involvement by joining the board, where he has served with dedication. As his current term concludes, Max has decided not to seek re-election.


Justin Wood - Board Member

Justin has been a dedicated member of the league since 2021 and was elected to the board in 2024. In his time with the league, Justin has demonstrated a high level of involvement, serving as a referee for the adult league. He has shown strong leadership both on the board and as a captain in the adult league. Additionally, Justin has contributed significantly to the youth league, leading practices for the 18U and 16U teams and coaching at youth tournaments. He is also actively applying his skills to assist in finding a new home for Asheville Hockey.


Jon Larrabee - Board Member
Jon became a member of the board two years ago. Over a decade ago, his son and daughter joined the Asheville Hockey League, which inspired Jon to put on skates and engage with the community. He subsequently coached in the youth league for several seasons while his children played. Today, his son competes in college roller hockey, and his daughter plays travel ice hockey. After careful consideration, Jon has decided not to seek re-election.

Justin Kaiser - Board Member

Justin has served as the Youth Commissioner of the Asheville Hockey League for the past two years, during which he has also contributed to the board. In addition to overseeing the youth league, Justin actively participates in coaching his son and supports the league by officiating games. He plays a key role in ensuring that all players are properly equipped with the necessary gear at the start of each season, while also fostering a fun and engaging environment for everyone involved. Between seasons, Justin focuses on recruiting new members to strengthen and grow the youth league, ensuring its continued success and vitality.
